About Hardwood floor Sanding Refinishing.
Re-finishing and sanding your hardwood floors is necessary in
order to preserve their quality and beauty. Re-finishing is carried
out solely as a way of enhancing the wood’s natural color and to
give it protection it from the elements.
The best time to sand and re-finish a hardwood floor is when
moving into a new house or apartment as the completely vacant dwelling
presents the opportunity to take advantage of my Glitsa gold seal
Swedish Varnish finish coatings an receive exceptional value as
this will last into the thirty years range.
A wooden floors re-finishing with other types of hardwood floor
coatings water borne and polyurethane should last around ten years.
However, high traffic rooms will need to be re-finished more frequently.
There are lots of finishing options once the wooden floor is
sanded and burnished, The choices are to have a natural finish this
is either a clear coat of something: a natural oil stain or water
borne coating, a varnish, a sealer, polyurethane anything clear
whether semi transparent or opaque still clear.
Staining the wooden floor a stain color. there are plenty of
stain colors and I have three different staining application methods
all of which are involving carefully wiping on and off the
penetrating oil stain while on your
hands and knees. Each method allows for a more intense levels
of penetration meaning putting more stain in the wood deeper by
raising of the grains fibers...
Stain colors are from dark to light Sable black, ebony, coffee
brown, cordovan, antique brown, spice brown, medium brown,
fruitwood, nutmeg, golden, neutral, whisper grey. taupe. white.
These stains can be combined to make other custom mixed colors
Choosing a sheen is the amount of reflection you desire.
typically matte satin semi gloss and high gloss. Depending on which
solvent or water borne paint category some sheens may seem at have a
different appearance when compared to each other
AHF all hardwood floor ltd offers a wide variety of Hybrid hardwood floor finishing systems.
These systems are formulated to offer greater protection and control over the characteristics ambering oxidizing!
Veteran flooring contractor Ken Moersch completed work on a floor using a competitor's finish only to find that the product failed to perform, leaving the surface coarse and grainy. So, after buffing down the previous finish, Ken turned to Glitsa Max.
*Because I work alone, I need a more forgiving finish that will help me achieve
superior results even with difficult layouts. Glitsa Max rolled on really nicely with great coverage and saved the job. I don't ever stress about a coat anymore. This new generation water borne commercial finish goes on thicker letting me work faster without throwing drips everywhere, and with the longer open bucket time, the user-friendliness of it is really nice. Dip the roller in the bucket and Glitsa Max just clings to the to the nap. It's a dream to apply and is a lot thicker than the competitors floor finishes I love it. As far as I'm concerned, it's a lot better than anything else out there."

cost of getting decent protection and a specific look of an
iridescent glow when using this hybrid hardwood floor finishing

early nineties.

Before and after
AFTER the Hardwood floor is complete:
1.Do not use sheet vinyl or tile floor care products on wood
floors. Self-polishing acrylic waxes cause wood to become slippery
and appear dull quickly.
2.Use throw rugs both inside and outside doorways to help prevent
grit, dirt and other debris from being tracked onto your wood
floors. This will prevent scratching.
3.Do not wet-mop a wood floor. Standing water can dull the
finish, damage the wood and leave a discoloring residue.
4.Wipe up spills immediately with a slightly dampened towel.
5.Do not wax a wood floor, avoid wax . If the floor dulls, try
buffing instead or a wood floor cleaner. Once you start to see
wear on heavy traffic areas you need to add more coating to your
maintenance free hardwood floor surface. Eventually there will come
a time when the old floor has transformed with age and the old
petinas are showing the floors age the best course of action is
probably refinishing from scratch.
6.Put soft plastic or fabric-faced glides under the legs of
furniture to prevent scuffing and scratching.
7.Avoid walking on your wood floors with cleats, sports shoes and
high heels. A 125-pound woman walking in high heels has an impact of
2,000 pounds per square inch. An exposed heel nail can exert up to
8,000 pounds per square inch. This kind of impact can dent any floor
surface.
8.When moving heavy furniture, do not slide it on wood flooring.
It is best to pick up the furniture completely to protect the wood
flooring.
9.For wood flooring in the kitchen, place an area rug in front of
the kitchen sink.
10.Use a humidifier throughout the winter months to minimize gaps
or cracks.
